The Solar Drying Centre Project
Project Launch: 1-6-21
Farms in Kudan Local Government Area often produce a surplus of tomatoes, pepper, onions, and other crops, but are unable to store the excess that has not been sold. More than 60% of these crops go to waste because of this lack of food storage ability. This project aims to develop a solar drying center, where farmers will be able to dry their unsold crops, which can be stored and sold with a much longer shelf life. With a ready market for dried goods, this project will not only reduce postharvest losses for the rural farmers in the community, but also boost food security and economic activities.
