We advocate for a local approach to development. Less than 1% of global development aid is deployed at the local level, which is a missed opportunity and reinforces poverty and inequality. By investing locally, World Connect cultivates existing capacity and social capital in these often-overlooked places and stretches each dollar further than outsider, top-down global development approaches. More can be done to fight poverty and support emerging economies. It doesn’t only mean more money invested, it means smarter investments.
