small – scale poultry farming
Project Launch: 5-31-19
The soil in Kanama, Rwanda is infertile due to overcultivation, which has drastically reduced the agricultural productivity of the village. The community struggles with high rates of food insecurity, malnutrition, extreme poverty, and school dropout. The Kanama Poultry Farmers is a community-based organization made up of 100 villagers who have proposed a small-scale poultry farm to increase their household income. The community members plan to raise hens whose eggs will provide a source of nutrition for children and additional income for families. This small-scale poultry project aims to increase the economic welfare of the community, reduce the number of school dropouts, and improve the village's overall health.
