Koabaki Beekeeping Cooperative - Fighting Against Poverty Through Beekeeping
Project Launch: 11-25-24
The Fighting Against Poverty Through Beekeeping project aims to improve livelihoods in Nyirabwayi Village by enhancing honey production and diversifying beekeeping products. Led by the KOABAKI Cooperative, this initiative will provide 25 members, including women and youth, with modern equipment, such as hives and protective gear, as well as training on sustainable beekeeping practices. By increasing honey yields and producing value-added products like beeswax and propolis, the cooperative seeks to improve members' incomes and support local food security through enhanced pollination. The project also includes the rehabilitation of a honey collection center to ensure high-quality processing and storage. Sustainability will be achieved through community involvement, reinvested profits, and continued training, fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship in the region.
