Construction of a Classroom Block at Mbiriwizi Full Primary School
Project Launch: 12-31-19
Hope for Relief Organization, a Segal Family Foundation Incubation Champion, will through this project construct a school block with two classrooms. The space will provide a conducive learning environment to students in standards two and five at Mbiriwizi Full Primary School in Rumphi District. The new school block will reduce disruptions in childrens' learning caused by adverse weather conditions and other distractions. The school block will contribute to increased enrollment and improved classroom performance among the students.
Project Update: 4-30-20
The community organization, in partnership with the School Management Committee, is making good progress on the construction of a classroom block at Mbiriwizi Primary School. Despite challenges imposed by the rainy season and the COVID-19 pandemic, they expect to complete the construction in two months. Once completed, the school will graduate to a full primary school with eight classes instead of the current six. Subsequently, the enrollment is expected to increase as this block has capacity to serve 100 students in total. This finished classroom block will also reduce the distance students have to travel to access higher classes.
Mr. Mark Gondwe said, “The people of this community have shown commitment towards this project. They have worked tirelessly to contribute towards locally available resources and we will continue rendering support towards the project.”
