Buramira Goat Rearing Project
Project Launch:
Buramira residents identified improved food security as their most pressing goal, and elected to achieve this via a goat-rearing project. Participants will purchase twenty male goats and five female goats - using a village grant of $8,000, which will also provide start-up capital for their village savings fund. The community will use the goats to produce manure for fertilizing the fields. They will also be able to generate income by selling goats as well as the stud rights to their male goats. The greater productivity in the fields as well as the increased income will both contribute to the community's overall goal of improved food security.
