Transformation of Oyster Products for the Women of Nema Bah
Project Launch: 10-12-18
The project seeks the construction of a processing center at Nema Bah which will house a building for the storage and processing of oysters and other fishery products and a building for the manufacture of soaps and water from bleach. Local women do not currently have a storage room for their oysters and they are forced to leave them on the beach without any protection. This has caused a loss of a substantial part of the oysters they harvest and repercussions on their sales.
The construction of a transformation room will allow the women to be safer in relation to their current working conditions where they are constantly exposed to sun, rain, and wind. This project will contribute significantly to the improvement of hygienic conditions and will allow the women to intensify and diversify their processing of fish products. The facility will also house a building reserved for the production of fabric soap and bleach because these components can be hazardous to human health. Having a separate structure with strict safety standards will reduce the population's contact with these products. The construction of this building will greatly minimize the risks associated with manufacturing.
