Teacher's house at Mkaika CDSS
Project Launch: 1-12-22
Using a $6,655.21 investment grant from World Connect, the Mkaika CDSS Parents and Teachers Association will construct a teachers house to increase the number of houses to three from the current two out of the twelve teachers at the school. Availability of the house will increase the number of teachers supervising night studies as teachers will be residing closer to campus impacting students overall performance in class and in national examinations. Additionally, students especially girls that do self boarding at the school will receive adequate monitoring thereby enhancing their security and confidence.
Project Update: 5-11-22
The construction of a teacher’s house at Mkaika CDSS is gearing towards completion with roofing of the house already done. Using the initial 60% of the total $6,655.21 grant funds, construction progressed from foundation to roofing levels in just three months. Iron sheets were also purchased, and roofing was done in the same period. Once the house is completed, the school will increase the number of teachers residing on campus from two to three which will in turn increase the number of teachers available to supervise students during night studies.
