Women's Honey Farming in Douyac
Project Launch: 6-4-18
This project aims to empower a group of ten women who live in Douyac, Leogane who are heads of their families and who seek to sustain their livelihoods by producing quality organic honey. Ignored and marginalized by the government, the community struggles economically and families fight to make ends meet and support the education of their children. Leriche Miel and community group, GROPOL, have taken an interest in working with the women to develop them as entrepreneurial suppliers. Scaling up the talents and skills of the women, the goal is to create beehives that allow them to develop a sustainable and profitable honey enterprise that will allow them to meet their needs and those of their children.
