Mitigating Climate Change through Organic Waste Management in Peguche (Mitigando el Cambio Climático a través del Manejo de Residuos Orgánicos en Peguche)
Project Launch: 12-31-24
In the Kichwa community of Peguche, a group of 15 organic farmers will create a first-of-its-kind organic waste center that is managed for and by the community. Organic waste will be turned into a resource for sustainable agriculture through composting and a biofactory. Accompanied by community-wide educational campaigns, research, and commercialization of organic fertilizer products, this project seeks sustainability through environmental friendly composting and mitigating impact on the nearby páramo (highlands) ecosystem.
