Jiamini Girls Clubs
Project Launch: 12-27-19
Jiamini, a community-based organization, will host three two-day Girls Empowerment seminars for students at all three secondary schools across Newala, Tanzania. 300 girls (50 Jiamini students and 250 other students) will have access to health education, including information about how to avoid or manage HIV. Secondly, with this World Connect, the organization will equip community leaders and female teachers with materials to kick off new girls clubs. Jiamini will offer support throughout the process of starting these clubs and will facilitate quarterly meetings for leaders to gather. Thirdly, Jiamini has a goal to provide access for these 300 girls to menstrual pads. Because of the demand in their community, there is an opportunity to begin making menstrual pads locally, and they are working to support one of their alumni in creating prototypes for production.
