Widows to Farmers
Project Launch: 1-3-18
Women in Cameroon are gaining power and respect, but in many places there is a still a significant gap between the genders and widows are forced to work even harder in the fight against poverty and economic dependency. Many women in Yoke struggle with family food insufficiency and insecurity. As a sustainable strategy to empower women and enable them gain economic autonomy and ensure family food self-security, women (mostly widows) in Yoke are starting a cassava project. The women will cultivate, process, and sell the cassava, which is in high demand locally. Ultimately, participants hope that through cassava cultivation, they can generate income and achieve food security.
