Secondary School Girls' Hostel
Project Launch: 4-30-18
In rural Malawi, schools are often a great distance from residences. Girls who must tend to domestic chores and attend classes have to travel great distances between home and school during dangerous hours, putting them in the position to be exploited or abused en route. Some families feel this distance is a burden and consequently prefer to marry off daughters at an early age, leaving them undertrained and incompletely educated. This project will construct a dormitory for girls in high school. This will enable students to sleep closer to school without risking the dangers that result from long journeys between their homes and classrooms. This will also increase the convenience that girls and their families have throughout the education process, resulting in more girls staying in school.
