Red Roof Library Project
Project Launch: 8-28-17
Kabile is a rural town in Ghana located on the border with Cote d'Ivoire. The Student Union of Kabile has undertaken a library initiative to serve the entire community. Kabile has three schools, each serving students from the elementary to high school level, many of whom progress to the high school and the tertiary level. The Student Union of Kabile has representatives from all three schools -- both active students and alumni -- and they have succeeded in collecting approximately 2,500 books to seed a library. However, there is currently no space to accommodate these books for public use.
This project proposes constructing a 100-person capacity library. Once construction is complete, the library will also serve as a community space for quiz competitions, extracurricular classes, and camps during school vacations and as well as a center for public education initiatives.
