Health Hut Reconstruction in Mbouma
Project Launch: 3-6-18
Despite Mbouma's connectivity to utilities and important centralized location, its local health hut remains without electricity or running water, making the provision of health services very difficult for the hard-working members of the local healthcare team. Aside from its lack of utilities, the structure itself is in complete disrepair. The building is no larger than four small rooms with a dusty cement floor, a tin roof riddled with holes, and a collapsing frontal foundation. In this environment, the citizens of Mbouma and 9 surrounding villages -- a population numbering more than 10,000 people -- are unable to effectively receive quality primary medical care at the existing facility. This project seeks to electrify and outfit the health hut with power and running water so that it may more feasibly provide life-saving care to local residents.
