Crossroads Art Club: Artistic Expression with Teenagers in Detention
Project Launch: 11-15-24
The Crossroads Juvenile Center Art Club is an arts program for teenage inmates at the New York City Administration for Children's Services (ACS) Crossroads Juvenile Center in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn. Art Club is an improvisation-based music and art-making program involving young people ages 12 to 21 who are incarcerated in a maximum-security juvenile detention facility, as well as staff at the center. Started in the fall of 2023, Art Club consists of weekly meetings where youth and staff gather for collective art-making sessions with live music and opportunities to showcase their work within the facility and in the broader community.
