#StopPneumonia
Project Launch: 7-13-18
In Nigeria, there are at least 6.7 million cases of pneumonia annually with over 200,000 children dying annually from the preventable disease. #StopPneumonia is a multi-pronged approach to reducing the incidence and prevalence of childhood pneumonia in commemoration of World Pneumonia Day on November 12. Through a Community Awareness Walk and Campaign, children and caregivers will be sensitized in their local languages about common signs and symptoms of pneumonia and ways to prevent the disease. Community medical outreach will commence after to assess, screen and treat children with pneumonia and refer those who need further care to the nearby teaching hospital. Vaccines such as HiB and PCV will also be administered to children who have not received them to protect them from contracting the disease.
