Sage School Great Coin Race 2011
In 2011, Sage School (K-8) students chose to fundraise for a project in the Dominican Republic to restore a library space for kids in a community comprised primarily of undocumented Haitian families. They used the World Connect Great Coin Race fundraising toolkit to raise funds. They split their school in half to create two teams that competed in collecting spare change over the course of one month. The students selected a group of 8th graders to be the spokespersons for the project and the fundraiser, presenting an update each week on the school’s progress. Younger students were charged with the weekly count of the change and teachers supported the program by teaching about Dominican culture and history and the particular challenges being addressed in the library restoration project.Explore other Projects
