Spelling Bee Morocco
Project Launch:
The Moroccan Association of Teachers of English (MATE) will develop a series of spelling bees for kids in 9-12th grade in three regions: Ouarzazate, Tinghir and Zagora. Competitions will be held at school, city and regional levels. The top three students at each school bee will move on to the city bee and the winners of the city bees will progress to the regional bees. The project starts with a comprehensive teacher training that will allow MATE members to incorporate the bees into their schools, evaluation of the project's success in 2012, leading to implementation in 2013. A grant through World Connect will cover teacher training and the larger city and regional bees.
