Kaluza Cooking Oil Production
Project Launch: 10-9-19
The Kaluza Club has plans to start producing cooking oil from groundnuts and sunflower seeds, the two crops that are commonly grown and found in Kaluza community. The project entails construction of a production house, procurement and installation of oil processing machinery, and training for group members in oil production. Produced oil will be sold in markets around the community. The group will also offer community members access to the factory machinery, so that they can process their own raw materials at a fee. This project will contribute to the economic stability of households in the Kaluza community.
Project Update: 4-30-20
The Kaluza Club has completed construction of the cooking oil production house. The structure, which has been roofed and plastered, is awaiting paint and doors to be fully ready for use. The project has also procured oil processing machinery which includes oil extractors, oil filters, and a fuel powered generator for all processing activities. The participants visited Kamwendo Cooperative Union to learn about cooking oil production. The project will be completed once the machinery is installed and the participants have been trained in oil production and business management. The project will benefit 24 (nineteen women and five men) members and over 2,000 community farmers who will have an established market for their groundnuts and soybeans.
