How to get involved
This program develops global awareness in young students. It promotes cross-cultural communication and understanding and inspires kids and teens to engage in international philanthropy and community service.
With programs like World Connect Club, Campus Wide Initiative and Classroom Integration, we’ve worked in more than 20 schools from Nevada to the UK. Participating students pick a region of the world, specific project(s) and then coordinate with our staff to explore these interest areas in creative ways. Students develop a greater understanding of geography, culture and socio-economic issues, as well as a deep appreciation for core philanthropic principles.
Children gain:
- The training to evaluate and critique the design of international development projects
- The knowledge to discuss issues and challenges facing women and children in the developing world;
- The opportunity to connect directly with women, children and community leaders in some of the world’s most marginalized communities
You have a few options:
World Connect Club — A World Connect Club can stand on its own or integrate into a relevant preexisting club. World Connect Clubs are led by students and supported by faculty advisors. A World Connect Club is a powerful way to engage an intimate group of students. Connect with students and citizens across the world as you learn how to make a difference in the lives of women, children and their communities. Discover the immediacy, power and personal rewards of philanthropy.
Campus-wide Initiative — Campus-wide initiatives are led by an individual or group who elect student leaders to be the point people to the student body. As in a World Connect Club, students learn about, discuss, and vote on projects around which to center their education and fundraising efforts. Members can choose their top projects of interest currently listed on the World Connect site to learn more about, think about the project’s implementation and sustainability, hone leadership skills, and develop a sense of global citizenship and connection with these real communities around the world. You can receive regular reports, photos, and videos from the field to witness the direct impact the students are making. Through fundraisers, you can raise both money and awareness for projects supporting women and children in Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
Curriculum Integration — World Connect can be introduced to students as part of a lesson plan. Teachers find that World Connect can make curriculum tangible and more exciting for their students.
